Darren Soto Endorsed by Congressman Scott Peters

Orlando.– State Sen. Darren Soto earned the endorsement of Congressman Scott Peters of California (CA-52). Mr. Peters serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. During his eight years of service on the San Diego City Council, Peters helped lead a $2 billion redevelopment project of downtown San Diego. The project created many jobs through major infrastructure projects and the cleanup of San Diego’s beaches and bays.

“Senator Darren Soto is a proven leader who understands that we must fight to create high-quality jobs and expand economic opportunity in a way that leaves no one behind. Darren is a true public servant with a humble, hardworking approach that we need more of in Congress,” said Congressman Scott Peters. “As a member of the New Democrat Coalition I am proud to endorse Darren Soto for Congress, and look forward to fighting with him to bring real progress for central Florida and all of America.”

Senator Darren Soto continuously fights for economic development and education opportunities for Central Florida. He recently helped secure $15 million in funding to contribute to the construction of a high-tech sensor manufacturing facility in Kissimmee. He also assisted in bringing $25 million for the development of the Valencia College – Poinciana campus.

“I am eager to work with Scott Peters in Congress and greatly appreciate his support of my candidacy,” said Sen. Darren Soto. “Scott and I are similar in that we are about action not just talk. We like to solve problems and bring coalitions of people together to get results.”

Darren Soto has been endorsed by 20 members of Congress and 30 Florida legislators.  He has received support from BOLD PAC, the Latino Victory Fund, Ocean Champions and the bulk of unions who have weighed in on this race: the painters (IUPAT), electricians (IBEW), ironworkers (IPAL), machinists (IAM), locomotive engineers (BLET), firefighters (IAFF), the sheet metal, air, rail, and transportation workers (SMART), and the laborers (LiUNA).
