Air Berlin coming to Orlando International Airport

ORLANDO BECOMES 8TH U.S. DESTINATION FOR AIR BERLIN.

ORLANDO, FL. – The service may be almost a year away but anticipation is building for new
non-stop air service between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Dusseldorf, Germany on Air Berlin. Starting in May of 2017, Air Berlin will establish a non-stop link between Orlando, its 8th U.S. destination, and its hub, opening one-stop access to over 57 European destinations as well as locations in Northern Africa, Turkey and the Middle East.
“Expanded economic growth with our 12th largest international market, more cultural exchanges and stronger bonds with our German friends are just some of the benefits of today’s announcement by Air Berlin to begin service at Orlando International Airport,” says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

“Early estimates are that this new partnership will generate over $32 million economically for Central Florida annually and will help to further highlight our region’s business and leisure significance on the global stage.”

With this new route, Dusseldorf becomes the 49th international destination served at Orlando International. Germany is the third largest European market for MCO behind the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Other U.S. markets served by Air Berlin include: Boston, Ft. Myers, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Chicago.

Air Berlin will fly an Airbus A-330-200 aircraft with 293 available seats five-days-a-week to Orlando.
